

Howard Mitchell Dahlstrom, 70, of Williamston, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017. His wife of 31 years, Sue Boyes Dahlstrom, was at his side. Howard was born in Fremont, MI April 25, 1947 to H.M. (Bud) & Florence Dahlstrom who preceded him in death. Howard graduated from Fremont High School in 1965 & attended Lansing Community College. He was a Police Officer for Delhi & Meridian Twps for 8 years before serving the Williamston Police Dept for 25 yrs retiring in 2003 as Chief of Police. Williamston meant so much to Howard that he served his community as a Volunteer Fireman 13 yrs, was a member of Williamston Sunrise Rotary 13 yrs, Lions Club 37 yrs, Eagles, and the Chamber of Commerce, served as Code Officer for the Township & was elected Clerk of the Township. He was proud of his work for the Williamston Area Beautification Fund and spent many years raising the funds to build the American Legion Band Shell, a site for so many community gatherings. Howard served as Vice Chair of the Williamston Parks Commission, was a Senior Driver for the Senior Center, a member of Lansing Area RSVP, and the Mecosta Senior Center. Howard was honored as Williamston’s Citizen of the Year and 2012 Rotarian of the Year. He loved golfing with his many friends and spending time at the cottage on Big John Brown Lake.
Howard is survived by his sons Kerry Rouse & Troy Rouse (Betty), his sister, Mary Jo Dahlstrom Bultman (David), his brother, Eric N Dahlstrom (Margo), & his brother-in-law Terry Boyes (Margaret). Howard will be greatly missed by his grandsons Kevin Rouse (Missy), Ron Rouse (Kylee), James Rouse, Kevin Kaltrider (Emily), Tyrone Dudenhoeffer, and 6 great grandchildren as well as his beloved dogs, Ziva & Sarah, nieces & nephews, Jodie Bultman, Nathan Bultman (Aimee), Heather Johnson, Scott Boyes (Amy), & Dr. Marcus Dahlstrom, 3 cousins, and a multitude of very close & dear friends.
Memorial Celebration will be held at St Mary Catholic Church, 157 High Street, Williamston, MI on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 am.
Howard’s family requests that in lieu of flowers you consider a donation to the Howard M Dahlstrom Memorial Fund, sponsored by the Williamston Police Dept., which will be used to help with his final expenses and to fund a permanent memorial in the City of Williamston.
