Robert Eugene Warfle passed away on September 23rd 2015, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 22nd, 1937 to Clarence Glenn and Alma May (Wiggins) Warfle on their homestead farm in Locke Township north of Williamston.
As a young man he was a farmer and athlete, and worked as a laborer, Oldsmobile employee, and as a mechanic. The largest part of his career was spent doing the thing he loved, working on International Harvester farm equipment, and Bob was known as one of the premier mechanics in the area. He also enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard with friends from Perry, MI and served the 1/119 Field Artillery.
Bob had a lifetime of helping others. He befriended people in need of help, assisting them with day to day tasks and was a good friend and caretaker. In retirement Bob also worked as a freelance agricultural mechanic and advisor. He traveled to agricultural gatherings throughout the Midwest and made many new friends. He also enjoyed visiting family in both Arizona and Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Max, Lloyd, Walter and William, and by his sisters Gladys Richards, Lois Colby, and Janette Richardson. He is survived by sisters Lenegene Brooks, Vivian Parmalee and brother Denny (Kathy) Warfle, and his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Anne (Rugg). Also surviving are their sons Glenn (Mary), Paul (Pam), and Clark (Michelle) and 7 grandchildren: Evan, Tyler, Jacob, Jason, Katelynn, Madelynn and Justin. Bob was proud of his family, saying "How lucky we've been!"
A memorial service will be held at a later date. For those desiring, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or the Williamston Food Bank.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston Chapel. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.grwilliamston.com.
