Rosalind (Rosie) Lareta Merriman, Born February 12, 1942, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2019 surrounded by family she loved deeply. She lived and loved Williamston, MI her entire life. She and her husband of 48 years (Bill Merriman) were fully engaged in the community while running Bill’s Sunoco, and later Bill’s Wrecker and Radiator Service until 1995 when Bill’s was handed down to their son Gordy. One of her greatest joys was cooking for her family, friends (especially her unforgettable brownies!) and the numerous travelers that found themselves stranded at Bill’s. Rosie enjoyed being an active volunteer in the Williamston Red Cedar Jubilee since its inception in 1968. The Canada Club evolved from the group of close friends that started the Jubilee. She enjoyed spending time with dear friends in Canada as well as many motorcycle and car races over the years. After being widowed for several years she was blessed by finding deep love with Dan Oesterle who will always remain a part of our family. Rosie loved completely and fiercely protected those she cared about. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and spent many weeks up north camping and having fun with family, friends, and extended family. In her last years with Bill and early years with Dan, she lived on Greenfield Court in Williamston and felt very fortunate to have made very good friends of her neighbors and said many times how much she enjoyed living in such a kind, caring neighborhood. She will be deeply missed by all.
Rosie is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Merriman, her parents Monnie and William Foreman, sister Ruth Frey and brother Lyle Foreman.
She is survived by Dan Oesterle (Boy Toy!), brothers Don Foreman (Joan), William Foreman (Peggy), and Jon Foreman (Jay), children Betty Fancher (Brian), Teresa Rogers (Mike), Gordy Merriman (Megan), Paul Merriman (Michelle), grandchildren Katie Davis, Chad Rogers, Michael Rogers, Jessi Holt, Hannah Merriman, Matthew Merriman, and Kyler Mattoon, great grandchildren Waid, Chandler, AvaGail, Levi, Jonathan, Tessa, Clara, and Lucca, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of her Life will be held October 27, 2019 from 2pm-4pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston, MI 48895
