Weaver Rose Habl of Haslett died unexpectedly during recovery from a stroke Wednesday, May 8. She was 57. Born Mary Kay Fink on June 28, 1955, she made parents of Jody Jones and Raymond Fink. Married 11/3/79, she made a husband of James Bloomfield, her best friend and co-adventurer in life. Together they provided an example of enduring fidelity, acceptance and love to all who knew them. After her marriage, she changed her name to Weaver Habl, reflecting her passions for weaving and her love of hot air balloons and her belief that you and your life are what you choose to make of it. Her talents were many; her mind and fingers were clever. She built a dulcimer and learned to play; she sang beautifully. She wrote children’s stories and took the NanoWriMo challenge to write a novella each November, read voraciously and especially appreciated the author Ursula K. Le Guin. Her training was in accounting but her heart was in humanity. She practiced Wicca and was a member of the Society of Friends. She was fond of the saying, “All creatures, everywhere, are doing the best they can.” Upon learning that her aunt had once formed a cooking club in her youth, Weaver created her own cooking club so she could spend more time with her sisters, sister in law and nieces. Her children were her cats, Pete and Sophie. Family was important to her, and she loved and was loved by her nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her husband, Jim Bloomfield of Haslett, MI; her mother Jody Jones of Haslett, MI; her father Raymond (Lillian) Fink of Williamston, MI; two sisters, Carol Valor of Bath, MI, Anne (Tim) Daniel of Alma, MI; a brother, Eric (Lesa Johnson) Fink of Williamston, MI; Uncle John and Merrily Jones of Aiken, MN; Sister In Law Kathy Bartram of Swainsboro, GA; Brother in Law John (Janet) Bloomfield of Owosso, MI; Sister in Law Jean (Paul) Speaker of Amherst,
N Y; Sister in Law Mary (David) Katz of Silver Springs, MD; and Brother in Law Joseph (Mary) Bloomfield of Owosso, MI; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her niece, Nikki Fink, in 2010.
A memorial service will take place at 10 am, May 18th at the Red Cedar Friend’s Meeting house. 1400 Turner Street, Lansing, Michigan 48906.
