Peggy Cherry Rogerson

Mrs. Peggy Ruth Cherry Rogerson, 81, died Saturday March 12, 2016 at Vidant Hospital in Greenville, NC. Born on March 26, 1934 to David Oscar (John) and Blanch White Cherry, she was raised in Martin County. Peggy graduated valedictorian of her class from Robersonville High School. She was a graduate of East Carolina University with a BS in Math Education and a minor in French. At graduation from ECU, she was presented an award for having the highest average in math for her class. She taught in the Martin County school system.

Peggy was married to Jesse Rogerson on January 20, 1957. They shared life together in Williamston, Plymouth and Greenville, North Carolina. She enjoyed watching birds, taking trips, fishing, supporting activities of her family, and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Rogerson is survived by husband, Jesse Rogerson of Greenville; daughter, Dr. Lisa Rogerson of Greenville; brother, Billy Cherry of Greenville; sister, Gail VanLandingham, of Williamston; and granddaughter, Jessy Pinner, of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as, brothers Elliott Cherry, Jimmy Cherry, and John Ashley Cherry.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Everetts Baptist Church in Everetts, North Carolina followed by burial in Robersonville, North Carolina.
