Mr. Moslow was a great teacher who was liked and greatly respected by his students at North High School. I was lucky to be one of his math students. He was instrumental in furthering my early desire to become an educator. I attended UB and when it came time for me to student teach, he chose me to be his student teacher. I was thrilled to be working and learning with him. I still have the letters he wrote me during this time which helped me become a better teacher. I also know his recommendation greatly helped me obtain my teaching position at East High School. I saw Mr. Moslow before he retired and I thanked him for being a great teacher, mentor and friend. I will greatly miss him. Please accept my sincere condolences to your entire family.

My best friend, Art was my Best Man and Kathy & my wedding.

One of my visits to Buffalo when Art & I spent the day in Niagara Falls

Art and I became best, lifelong friends when I was 12 years old.   Since then, we never lost sight of each other despite my frequent AF moves, Boeing travels and settling in California.  The picture of Art at Niagara Falls is when I visited him after one of my business trips.  We did everything together growing up from daily summer swimming in the Orchard Village outdoor pool, hiking, building forts in the woods, exploring hidden native American caves, playing basketball and chess, picking cherries from his backyard trees, starting and growing our successful high school Rocket club, sleep-overs in my parents screened-in garage, helping out on newspaper paper routes, shoveling mounds of snow in in each other’s driveways in Camillus, double dating with our individual girlfriends, including our High School Junior Prom,  and visiting each other when he moved back to Buffalo when his dad retired.  I always considered Art as my older bother even though he only a year older since he was taller and 2 grades ahead of me.   Since he got his driver’s license before me, he would drive me everywhere in his broken down 1949 Nash car. 

Fifty-eight years ago my wife, Kathy  and I played cupid by selecting our best friends, Art  as Best Man and his wife Susie as Maid of Honor at our wedding.  They married 3 years after Kathy and I married.

Attached picture is Art & I in the church sacristy before my wedding.  Art is one of my few best friends who still called me by my nickname, Rusty even though my legal name is John.

Mr. Moslow taught us BC Calculus during the second half of the school year, starting class voluntarily at 6:50 a.m. several days a week to all but guarantee our success on the AP exam. He modeled diligence, persistence, and focus for his students. I just told a colleague earlier today that my high school math teacher used to write "RDQ" (refrigerator door quality) at the top of our tests when we did well. That led to my Google search and finding this page. Sending condolences to Mr. Moslow's family. I remember him well and still have my Tour of the Calculus and I love math stickers he gave me when I graduated. Tara, WNHS Class of 2000

So sorry for your loss. I remember very fun birthday parties at the Moslow house on Stevenson Blvd.  Best unshelled-peanut scavenger hunt in Buffalo!

    I am so sorry to hear about Art's passing. You and Art had a wonderful and long life together.  I hope he wasn't ill too long.
You must have nursed him with care and love, just as you did
for your patients at Sisters  with me.  I will keep you and Art

I am very sorry to learn of Mr. Moslow’s passing.   Whenever there is a discussion about math or calculus, I share the experience in his class.  A tough and fair teacher, willing to help if you asked, and a very subtle sense of humor.   May his memory live long in the people who knew him.

Mr. Moslow was my calculus teacher in 1972 to 1973. He was a wonderful teacher, and I enjoyed his classes immensely. I have thought back on those classes many times. He will long be remembered as one of the great teachers.

I was saddened to read about Mr. Moslow's passing. I was a sophomore in his geometry class 1969-70. I really enjoyed it; probably the only math class that I ever enjoyed. Mr. Moslow taught in a clear, thorough way so that anyone (even I) could understand the concepts, the formulas, and the proofs--every step, in proper order. He had a quiet, gentle demeanor and was patient with the idiots who tried to disrupt the class. I'll always be grateful to have had him as a teacher.

Mr. Moslow was my math teacher at North from 1992-1994. He was hands down the best teacher I ever had and was hugely influential in my career. After North, I went to UB, then started my PhD work in applied & computational math at Princeton where I taught my own calculus class to  undergraduates. I couldn't believe they let me teach that as a first year student! But Mr. Moslow's training served me well - and I found out my Princeton undergrads were at the same level as the North high school students. I still keep my notebook from Mr. Moslow's course in my living room hoping my kids might use it! Mr. Moslow was so incredibly dedicated - he came in early to teach BC calculus - 7am, wow. I can't say enough about what an amazing guy he was.

As one of Mr. Moslow’s students who graduated from Williamsville North in 1984, I wanted to express my condolences on the passing of your husband/father/grandfather.   In addition to being one of the greatest teachers I ever had, I specifically remember his gentle, patient and kind nature.  I have no doubts that all of his other former students would agree.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family in this difficult time.

Art was our true and trusted friend for over forty years. He was a good man, a loyal ,loving husband and a devoted father.  We send our deepest sympathy to Sue and the family. You will all be in our prayers.
