An Angle on Earth

There are angels in heaven
But rarely on earth
Except for one angel
My mother had birthed.

His radiant kindness
His love for us all
His zest to live life
We’ll always recall.

His love for his wife,
For his children of two
And for Ari and Jonah…
Your grandpa to you.

His love of guitars
The tunes that he played
Brought joy to our hearts
And will continue today.

A lover of building
And his projects galore,
Were what made his life
Fulfilled even more.

The angel I speak of
Is one we all know
Who once walked amongst us
But now as we know…

Has gathered with angels
In the heavens above
To pass onto them
His kindness and love.


Eric,

I often question God as to why he takes the good ones from us so early in life. I truly believe it is because our mom and dad miss you so much that they need to have you with them once again to hold in their arms, as they did on the day you were born. Today, we may be saying “goodbye” to you, but Mom and Dad are once again saying “hello” to their beautiful, angel son.

As your siblings, we could not have been more proud, honored, and privileged to have had you as our brother.  And looking around at those surrounding you today, they, too, know how truly blessed they have been, having had you in their lives.  

The world just won’t be the same without you, Eric.

Goodbye for now to our brother, our friend, and our pillar of life.  We will miss you and continue to love you forever.  We will never forget you.  We ALL just love you so much!

While I haven't known Eric as long as others, I consider myself blessed to have been his friend for the past 17 years.  His character, personality, and genuine kindness towards others will forever stay with me.  He will be missed by those of us who knew and loved him.  Rest in peace Eric.

My condolences to the entire Oswald family. I went to SSPP school with Eric for grades 6-8 and our historic church brought us back together especially as members of the St Vincent dePaul society. We often were teamed up to assist the less fortunate in the Kensington/Bailey area which allowed us to appreciate more fully our Williamsville area upbringing. Eric and his pickup truck could allows be counted on. Eric also help repair my mothers picnic table and my kitchen table along with sacred items in the church, which allows me to remember Eric and his special skills.

Eric, I just don’t know how to say how much I love you, but I have a special poem I wrote for you to share at your funeral mass. You encouraged me to write my first article for the Williamsville Living magazine about our neighborhood reunion party at your property. I continued to write more articles and poems, as you know, for the same magazine about the days of growing up in Williamsville. You would often call me after reading the articles and tell me how much you enjoyed them and how they brought such childhood memories back to you. So, I wrote a poem for you to share with you on your funeral day. I hope you love it as much as you did for my other poems and articles.

Dear Oswald Family,
So very sorry to read  of Eric's passing. Be sure that all of you have our sympathy and will be in our prayers.

My heart is heavy and will be forevermore because Eric will be in it with every trail I hike, every ladder I climb, every road I bike, every log I split, every village park I visit, every holiday I celebrate, every pear I pick, every Bills game I watch, every peach beer I drink and pizza I eat and so much more.  No one is kinder, braver, more fun or crazier than Eric.  Sleep in heavenly peace dear brother and friend.  Forever in my heart.

I had the pleasure of working with Eric at General Motors.He was a outstanding coworker as well as a very kind person my condolences to his family and friends.

My heart is broken and it's sad and cry about Eric was a nice guy and he's a friendly man and we will miss him we love him we will see him again someday up in heaven God take care of Eric
