Kevin B. McNamara a 79 year old executive from East Amherst passed away on Tuesday December 2nd with his family by his side. He suffered a fall in early September. Kevin was born on January 11th 1941. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1958. He attended the University of Alabama, where he was a walk on and played for Bear Bryant. He attended St. Bonaventure University where he received a Masters in leadership. Kevin also attended Harvard and graduated from the executive MBA program.
Kevin married Gail L. Chamberlain in 1962. Kevin has two daughters Susan (Tim) Hurley and Nancy (John) Serr. Kevin and Gail also lost an infant daughter Linda in 1966. Kevin has 4 grandchildren Brendan and Emily Hurley and Mary Catherine and Abigail Serr.
Kevin owned Millington Lockwood Inc. from 1971-2002 where he worked side by side with his wife Gail. The year he purchased Millington Lockwood the annual sales were approximately half a million dollars a year. In 2002 when it was sold sales were close to 12 million a year. This is a testament to his hard work and dedication. All his hard work paid off in 1987 when he was selected by Herman Miller Inc. to go to China. Kevin was asked to do this to give his input on an agreement to purchase textiles.
After 30 plus years of owning Millington Lockwood he retired. Retirement did not slow him down Kevin continued to work as a salesman at Lockwood, teach at Fredonia State and became a member of the School of Business Advisory board at St. Bonaventure. He also loved spending time with his family at his cottage in Bay Beach Canada. Nothing made hm happier than a full beach house with family and friends.
Kevin is also a past member at the Rotary Club of Buffalo, The Buffalo Club, Park Country Club, Board of Directors at Consumer Credit Counseling, where he served as a secretary. Kevin was also a member at the Buffalo Canoe Club.
Kevin was a leader, hard worker and a dedicated family man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
