Born in Buffalo, Martha attended Annunciation School through 12th grade and then received her Bachelors Degree from D'Youville College. Continuing her academics, she received her Masters in Education from Canisius College and taught in the Buffalo School System for several years, had two sons, before moving to Canandaigua, NY. Martha enjoyed supporting her husband throughout his entire career at General Motors, Chevrolet Division. Returning to Buffalo four years later, they settled in Tonawanda in 1958 and shortly thereafter had another son. Fifteen years later, the family (except Arthur) moved to the West Coast living in both Northern and Southern California. It was always the intent to return to her beloved Buffalo to be with her family and friends after retirement, which she did in 1990. After Richard's passing in 1990, she became very active at St. Gregory The Great Church, traveled with her dear sister-in-law, Marion Crumlish, and volunteered at the Perry Street food pantry. Mom,
I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter mother in law than you. You were a woman of kindness and love. You showed so much grace and kindness and I loved our relationship. I loved our weekly phone calls and visits. I loved all the stories you shared and I loved how we could make each other laugh. You will always be remembered as a wonderful woman.
The Bible says “absent from the body, present with a the Lord” What a wonderful time you must be having!
What a giving life you had! I’m sure the Lord said “well done, good and faithful servant”.
We love you so much, always.

I had the privilege of meeting Martha while visiting my husband Donald Chapman(the big guy) at Beechwood. I enjoyed my conversations with her and celebrating the Italian dinners with her at Beechwood. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed.
