I was privileged to meet Mr. Campagna several years ago when I was asked to clean for him. I would take 2 of my kids with me and he would always tell us stories about when he was a kid and then when he was in WWII. He was the oldest man that I had the honor of knowing. He was always pleasant and we would talk about the Lord and how blessed he was to have lived so long. I am sad to hear that he is no longer here but am so thankful for the sacrifices he made to serve our country and that I was 
able to visit him these past several years.

There are so many stories to tell about my Uncle Mike. He was the greatest storyteller himself. I enjoyed hearing his World War II stories, especially about General Patton. He easily learned the German language during the war and was asked to interpret when needed. He explained to me how his division went into the concentration camp, Dachau, and liberated them. It was painful and emotional for him to tell me. He picked up sayings from General Patton, but he had his own. When he taught someone to do something, he told them they did a good job, but they can do even better next time. He lived by this motto. He spoke the Italian language fluently and I loved to hear him  speak it to me on our phone visits. I didn’t understand, but it sounded beautiful. He and aunt Nancy raised two children whose lives made a positive impression on this world. His three grandchildren and their children will carry on his legacy. 
Uncle Mike, I love you and will miss you.

I got to know Mike at the McDee’s social club as l like to call it. He was a regular participant there for many years. The above pic says it all, I will always remember him for his booming laughter. Mike loved to talk about the controlled shooting of dice as in the game of Craps. He was well qualified to talk about it because he had previously set a shooting record. I always enjoyed listening. He was affectionately called by many, “the dice man.” You’ll be missed Mike. RIP

I can still hear Uncle Mike’s laughter whenever I think of him. I will also never forget the love in his heart when he told Margaret and I that he considered us more like daughters, after we had lost both our mom & dad within a short time.

My heart is sad for your loss. I send hugs of comfort to ease your pain.  It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, at any age. 
”Life is short, no matter how long we live.”  Aunt Jo said that to me shortly before she passed at the age of 101.

In September of 2001, my friend and I woke up in Fairhaven, Mass, after spending a few days in NY city.  Our last stop in NYC was the WTC on 9-10-01.  I remembered they lived in Buffalo.  I called my Mom (Margaret) and asked for their number.  We decided to drive back across the US instead of fly back to California.  Uncle Mike and Aunt Nancy were thrilled to have us stay the night at their home.  We arrived late at night with the fog completely rolled in.   They made us feel at home.  We woke up in the morning and were treated to Mac & gravy(my first true gravy experience).  Uncle Mike told stories of his time serving in WWII under General Patton.  Showed us his collection of wood carvings and sent us home with a Pheasant and Cross carving.  He took us to the Hertz rental to make sure we were able to secure a car all the way back to California, and also played tour guide, along with introducing us to several Buffalonians.  There's no doubt, he took pride in family and was not shy in showing his love and appreciation.  A true patriot, honorable man and family man.   We'll miss you Uncle Mike!

So sad for your passing Mike you were an amazing man you are at home now with Nancy, your service to our country was second to none you were always a great neighbor and i enjoyed are many conversations RIP Mike, Gale & Doug Lahnen
