Patricia M. Boreanaz, of Amherst, a retired teacher and museum curator, died Wednesday in Wells Hospice House at Beechwood, Getzville, after a brief illness. She was 85. Born in Buffalo, the former Patricia Sansone grew up on the city’s West Side and was a graduate of Holy Angels Academy. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State Teachers College, where she served on the Student Council and was president of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
Mrs. Boreanaz was a second grade teacher in the Maryvale Schools from the 1950s to the 1970s, then was education curator at the former Amherst Museum from 1980 to 1996. Active in Alpha Sigma Alpha Alumnae, she was Buffalo chapter president and co-chairwoman of the sorority’s national convention in Niagara Falls in 1980. She also was a member of the Erie County Bar Association Women’s Auxiliary. She was a lifelong Buffalo Bills, Braves and Sabres fan and attended all four Super Bowls in which the Bills played. She also was an avid bridge player. Her husband of 39 years, noted criminal defense lawyer Harold J. Boreanaz, died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Boreanaz Carra; three sons, Harold A., Brian J. and Robert J.; a brother, John T. Sansone; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 8:45 a.m. March 6 in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Amherst.
