Paul was a good friend and a dedicated Legion Band Member. We had many great conversations after rehearsals. The Legion after rehearsal conversations were most memorable it that we solved so many problems over a few beers. I miss those conversations. Richard Sowinski

To Karen and family -
In the short time I knew Paul whilst playing with BSB, he became one of the band members I grew closest to. As I didn’t have a car, he would often give me a ride home as I lived a few blocks over. Paul had so much musical advice to give and many stories of trumpet playing. On a number of occasions we had a night cap with Karen after a gig or rehearsal. He would play his jazz records and tell me stories of the musicians he knew. His last correspondence to me was a kind note saying how much he and the band had enjoyed rehearsal a Christmas arrangement of mine for one of their upcoming concerts. He was a great man and will be very much missed. Sending Karen and family my sincerest condolences and thoughts at this time.

To Karen and family,
I had the pleasure of working with Paul on the building of the Buffalo Maritime Center's canal boat, the Seneca Chief.  How fortunate we were to have him join our crew for several months! He was committed to the project and shared his expertise, creativity, and good humor with all of us.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

To Karen and family-I am greatly saddened at the loss of your husband and father. He was a fellow trumpeter who was my friend and musical colleague. He radiated kindness in our many conversations. Ever since we played trumpet together in the Amherst High School Band, there has  been a special place in my heart for Paul. I graduated a year before he did and moved to New York City to attend the Manhattan School of Music. The following year Paul joined me in New York, also studying at the Manhattan School. During these next couple of years our friendship really blossomed. We made a lot of music together, and we formed a brass chamber group we called The Metropolitan Brass Quartet. Paul took this endeavor very seriously. We strove for excellence, and in a relatively short time we built a reputation and were playing gigs around the city. 
Then Paul took the bold decision to go into medicine. I say bold, because transitioning from music school into med school was a huge leap that required him to begin his studies in Guadalajara, Mexico, before finishing back in the States. The brass quartet stayed together with another trumpeter, eventually doing several North American tours, forming a non-profit that commissioned many new works, and holding residencies at Hunter College and the Brooklyn Cathedral. I thank Paul for all of that, as in our formative days I credit his instincts and drive for getting the show on the road. The culture of the group, its sense of purpose, was all Paul.
But it wasn’t just about the music. There were adventures to be had in the Adirondacks, and the bicycle trips. We got serious about cycling. I’ll never forget one epic trip from New York City to Buffalo. We planned on a two-day run, overnighting with friends in Ithaca. Yes, 150+ mile days. We had fast bikes and travelled light, no camping gear. We came up short crossing the Catskills and ended up spending a night in the attic of an old bar in Downsville, New York. Humbled, and maybe a little hung over, we arrived in Ithaca a day late.
As they do, years went by. Paul practiced medicine in Buffalo, I became a sound engineer in L.A. We stayed in touch loosely, as old friends often do when mile

For the short time I knew Big Paul, as the father in law to my daughter Emily.   I found him funny, kind, intelligent, insightful, but most of all humble and loving of his family.   I will never understand the pain he privately endured, but find solace that he is now at rest and peace.    I enjoyed knowing Paul and regret our time was short, but, lastly, grateful for the warmth, kindness and love he bestowed on Emily, welcoming her to their family.    Somewhere….he is playing with the band and has a swinging beat goin’!   Play on Big Paul!   We’ll miss you!!

Big Paul is a beloved family member, generous soul, and excellent physician. I had the pleasure of his company at family gatherings and the honor to learn medicine from him.
Big Paul, Karen, Little Paul & Emily are the most marvelous family. My heart breaks for the suddenness of their separation. But, his legacy will survive him. To me, he is remembered as loving, goofy, intelligent, generous, and outgoing.

Also loud. In a good way. The trumpet helped.

Dear Dr. Juette the music may have stopped here on earth but the angels are rejoicing in heaven. Will miss your jokes. Certainly did not expect this, it’s actually pretty shocking ,but you are in a better place rest easy Paul.

Karen, Paul and Emily, Kym and I are very sorry for your loss.  We had the privilege of working with Paul and having him as a friend.  He was not only intelligent and a gifted musician but also one of the most genuine and caring people we knew.   I enjoyed working and discussing business with Paul and also fishing streamside with him.  Kym and I enjoyed  going to dinner with him and Karen and attending the parties at their house and enjoying some of his concerts.   We will miss him and always enjoy the memories of the time we shared. Although, we are not able to attend his viewing and memorial service, we will be there in spirit and keep you in our prayers.  May the pain of his loss soon be replaced by the warmth of the memories of the life you shared together.

Paul was one of my best friends all thru high school. He was one of the most talented, and intelligent people I knew, on top of being just a great human being. I have lived in Alabama for the last 40 years, and saw Paul 9 years ago at a gathering of friends in Buffalo. Little did I know that it would be the last time I was to see him. I am forever grateful to have known him. His memory will always be with me.

I am so sorry for your loss.  It must have been a shock for you.  I only met Paul once, but I never forgot his kindness towards me.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dr. Juette during my employment at MASH Urgent Care.  In fact,  not too many weeks ago, he came to mind and brought a smile to my face. I have many good memories of those 12 hr. shifts and the much needed humor he contributed on those long  and often times, stressful work days. I am deeply saddened by this great loss to his family, friends, and community. Godspeed, good doctor.

Karen so sorry to hear about Paul passing.  He was a great man and a wonderful Dr.  loved working with him at suburban hospital ER thought prayers love to you and your son
