I was one of the lucky ones that had Mrs Claus as a sixth grade teacher at St Joseph Elementary School. She taught me to think, to laugh, and most importantly to care. The relationship that my classmates and I built with Canadian students will always hold a special place in my heart. She will be missed.

Mrs. Claus can be held up as an example for all teachers - she taught because it was her passion....she simply loved to teach! She was one of the best, and will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Claus.  She taught both my brothers at St. Joseph's, but retired literally the year before I'd have had her.  You have no idea how upset I was!  I wanted to be in her class and had looked forward to it for years!  I wanted to be part of the Canadian pen-pal program she used to do with her students.  But, since she taught my brothers and St. Joseph was such a small, family-oriented school, I did have the fortune of getting to know her.  What a lady.

Mrs. Claus was a wonderful teacher.  She loved her children, all of them, even the troublemakers!  She was excited about teaching, and now that I have children-I always compare teachers today to her.  She still beats them by a mile!  I loved her passion for teaching!  Her picture brings back very fond memories.  Sorry for your loss, but she will always be remembered.

I had Mrs. Claus for 6th (1986 @ St. Joes) She tought an Oceanagraphy Class after school and I'm so glad I took the class. Mrs. Claus opened my eyes to another world. Very fond memories of her and I will miss her.

I was one of the fortunate & blessed children to have had Mrs. Claus as my 6th grade teacher. I want to say we were her very first class at St Joe's (I graduated in '73), if I recall correctly. She was quite a lady & we all, truly, adored her!! I still remember, so well, how she took a group of us kids to see MacBeth one night, in downtown Buffalo, in her own van and treated us all to Freddie's Doughnuts afterward!! How many teachers would do such a thing?! She was a powerhouse & a one-of-a-kind class act!! She will never, ever be forgotten by myself & so many others who were lucky enough to have been educated & touched by her great presence & enthusiasm!! Just so happy I had the opportunity to know such a grand, amazing woman!! She was a gem of a human being!!! Loved seeing the photos attached to this site! It was a joy to look at her beautiful face, all these years later, & to see, again, the warmth, the compassion, the wisdom, the character & the deep love she had for her wonderful husband & family!! May she live forever & always in sweet peace in God's Loving Arms.

Ruth was very special to our family.  She taught our children at St. Joseph School.  She was a wonderful teacher and all the children loved her.  She will be missed.

She was like our second Mom!! We will miss her very, very much.
