

Winifred M. Colt, (Deil) age 99, of Westborough, MA. passed on April 26, 2025, born in Lockport NY 12/7/1925, predeceased by her parents Mae Marsh (Starkey) Deil and Alfred Deil; her brother David Hennis Deil, her husband of 60 years John Zuidema Colt. Survived by her four children: Kathleen Mae Colt, John Zuidema Colt (Karen M Cutler), Debora Colt, and Nancy Colt Hart (Charles S Hart) and her grandchildren: Dana E Hart (Wilder Yost), James L Hart (Kathleen Looby Hart), Emily S Hart, John Zuidema Colt, Shane Colt Lawrence; great grandchildren: Augusta Yost, Juno Yost, Philip Hart. Along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs Colt attended Millard Fillmore College (University of Buffalo affiliate), employed by Erie County for 18 years as Retirement Counselor for NY State Employee Retirement System and managed Erie County Retiree Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance. Previously, she worked at Williamsville South High School Guidance Department. Prior to raising her family, her career included working in Detroit MI at WWJ-FM radio station, and at Stanley Aviation in Buffalo NY as secretary to the Station President having Secret US Government security clearance. From 1973 - 2018, Mrs Colt served as a United States Figure Skating Judge representing the Amherst, NY Skating Club and for 25 years from 1985 - 2010 as a Territory Competition Referee in NY, MA, PA, OH. She also managed the ‘Learn to Skate’ and testing program for Amherst Skating Club for 20 years. Throughout her 45+ years of volunteer service with figure skating she was presented many awards from local clubs, as well as the 2002 Distinguished Sportsman Award from North Forest Civic Association. Mrs Colt enjoyed camping with her family, playing bridge, reading, traveling, bowling, singing in church choir, and spent many enjoyable hours volunteering as Girl Scout Leader and Cookie Chairperson for the Town of Amherst. She was very social, enjoying shows at Shea Theater with friends, holding annual neighborhood front porch summer ice cream socials for the kids, playing in several bridge clubs, and baking her favorite pies for holidays and many festivities. In 2018, Mrs Colt moved to Westborough MA to be closer to her family. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday May 5th at North Presbyterian Church, 300 North Forest St, Williamsville, NY. Private entombment will be at Forest Lawn, Buffalo NY. The family is gratefully declining any flowers in lieu of donations to Macular Degeneration Research (brightfocus.org/stopAMD) or the North Presbyterian Church. Please share online condolences at
