Charles "Charlie" Joseph Orlowek, 68. Beloved husband of 37 years to Sharon, née Liss; devoted father of Shira (Steven Cantor) Orlowek; treasured grandfather of Lyra; loving brother of Nathaniel Orlowek; caring son of the late Alvin and Harriet Orlowek. Charlie was born in 1954 in Washington D.C., where he lived for two years with his family. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa, spent three years there, and a subsequent two and half years in Baltimore, Maryland. Most of Charlie's childhood was spent in Silver Spring, Maryland. He earned his BA from University of Maryland, College Park and spent a year abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. He came to Chicago in 1976 to Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business where he achieved an MBA in marketing. He served as a marketing consultant for the government of Quebec for many years. Charlie was an adventurous, loving, kind, opinionated, interesting, intellectually curious, outgoing person with a love for his family and loyalty to extended family and friends. He loved riding his bike and visiting out of the way places in the Chicago area. He probably knew more about Chicago than native-born Chicagoans. He loved meeting and talking to people from every walk of life. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
