Deena Wilhelm

Deena Wilhelm (nee Levin), age 92, passed away peacefully in her home on November 3, 2022. She was the daughter of Yale and Rose Levin, beloved wife and companion of Francis (Frank) Wilhelm, and the loving mother of David Wilhelm (Karen Rasco), Anita Wilhelm, and Laura Wilhelm. She graduated from Marshall High School and the University of Illinois at Champaign. Her love of nature and the Indiana Dunes began in childhood. As a young woman on Chicago's West Side she discovered Blues music which remained a lifelong enthusiasm. She was an avid reader and instilled a love of reading in her children, and she also loved attending theater and oral interpretation performances at Northwestern University. After retirement she spent many years as a hospital volunteer. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, and holiday gatherings with family. A private memorial was held by the family.
