What can you say about a woman who had strongly held opinions, but never said a bad word about anyone (except a few politicians)? Who loved her brothers so much that over time she became a diehard Bears and Bulls fan (even though we are not sure she understood the fine points of the games)? Who would have been a fabulous mother but lavished prodigious love on her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews—some of whom she had never met? Who couldn’t wait until the day after Easter to buy chocolate covered marshmallow eggs at half price? Whose friends called her Bubbles because of her sunny nature and said the world was a better place because she was in it? Who made taking attendance at her exercise classes a high calling? Whose brother-in-law considered her more of a sister than his own? Who adored French onion soup, tuna fish sandwiches, slot machines, a good diner breakfast, Hershey’s Kisses, Solitaire, a nice pair of jeans and fashionable scarves? Who never flew without a packet of peanut M&Ms? Who powered through life with more than few infirmities, but never ever complained? Who was generous to a fault?
She left a great imprint on all our lives, but never asked us for anything. We can only hope that she knew how very much we all loved her, and that she is now at peace with her beloved brothers and sisters. We will miss her sorely.
Larry (Marsha), Deborah (John) and Lise (Ofer); greats Richard (Ashira), Scott (Shelby), Marni (Rick), Elad (Guille), Maya (Alon), and Lila (Iftach); and 8 great-great nieces and nephews
