Gay Catherine Galich (Gigi), age 55, died on July 2, 2014. Gigi was the beloved wife of Paul Magura and fantastic mother of Selena and Sam Magura. She was the cherished daughter of Jerry and Lorna Galich and patient big sister of Gavin Galich and Abby Galich Brennan. Born and raised in Evanston, Illinois, Gigi worked at the Evanston Public Library for 23 years, most recently in the children’s room where she shared her love of literature with young people every day. Gigi was a gifted piano player, knitter, cook and gardener. She will be missed by so many people including her nieces and nephews, the Magura family, the extended Galich family, the extended Brennan family, her dear friends-especially Karen, the library community, the many, many kids she encouraged to read and anyone who was graced with her warm and ready smile. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Evanston, 1330 Ridge, Evanston, IL 60201, 847-864-1330. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Evanston Public Library.
