I think of Hill every day, multiple times a day! I think about things we’d be talking about right now-events in this crazy world! I think about how she would be laughing at the fact that I’ve joined her “early to bed” routine! I miss you every day,Hill and I always will! Keep looking out for us here will you?! I only hope that you are in a peaceful place where you are now showered with all the joy and light you deserve. I wish I had been able to be there for you when you needed someone. I wish I'd been as brave as you.  You inspire me and I carry you iny heart always. I  miss you.

For me, Hillary is the best example of how life’s greatest gifts come from unexpected places.  In the 1980’s, I was in graduate school in Evanston.  I was looking for a place to live and ended up renting an apartment with Hillary and our mutual friend, Lucy.  I didn’t really know Hillary when the three of us moved in together, but the time the three of us lived together turned out to be one of the best times of my life.  We shared parties, holiday celebrations and lots of laughter.  We helped each other through boyfriend problems, family trauma, work and school annoyances.  There were so many wonderful times together:

•	The night that the dancing at one of our frequent parties got so rowdy that plates started falling out the cabinets;

•	All of us screaming at the TV while we watched an unexpected  plot twist in our beloved “Knott’s Landing;”

•	Hillary and me trying to get her “Little Brown Chevette” started on the coldest day I’ve ever lived through (it was 20 below) because we wanted to go out and buy some snacks.

Since that time, Hillary, Lucy and I have remained friends through weddings, children and other life changes.  Hillary was an endless source of joy and fun.  

When she got sick, Hillary fought cancer with the same “not gonna let you beat me” attitude that I’d always seen from her.

I will always remember her rocking out to The Pretender’s “Precious,” holding a fake microphone and doing her best Chrissie Hynde imitation—“Not me baby, I’m too precious!”


Hillary was a valuable, energetic, and cheerful member of our quilting group, loved by all.

We will miss her; rest in peace...

It is so very hard to pen words describing a sweet friend you have known for 35 years. So many changes, experiences and stories that were shared and now, so many stories, memories ended before they've  begun. 
Now when my mind turns through the pages of stories and I remove all the clutter, I have to smile, even with a broken heart, because I was lucky to have had such a friend.
She was amazing.  
Hillary Hirsch Schab, I will forever miss your smile, your laugh, your wit, your integrity, your kindness and your jokes .  Rest peacefully my sweet friend. You will always be here in my heart.

I’ve known Hillary for years as a neighborhood friend, fellow cancer survivor and dog lover. No matter what new terrible turn her cancer took she found a way to stay positive. She is my model for strength in the face of adversity. 
Hillary you will be sorely missed! 

I've known Hillary for almost 10 years and Hillary is like family to me...  Wherever life took her, Hillary NEVER lost her smile and was ALWAYS positive.  I will truly miss her sense of humor and those memorable moments with her... I am so glad that Hillary is no longer in pain and finally she is at peace.  Hillary, you will be missed by me dearly. Peace at last, Hillary...

I have so many wonderful memories to share of my dear friend, Hillary. We worked together for 20 years but we had fun together outside of teaching as well! Hillary got me out of my comfort zone and she got me to take care of my health and actually saved my life! We spoke every day and sometimes multiple times a day just because we forgot to tell each other something! I will miss those calls and our Wednesdays together my beautiful friend-rest in peace.
