

Jack Erwin Levitt, 94, passed away in the south suburbs of Chicago on December 9, 2025. Growing up on Chicago's West Side, a graduate from Roosevelt University and a Homewood resident for 53 years, Jack was a beloved husband, fa-ther, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jack is survived by his children, Laurie (Gary), David (Laurie), Joel (Cindy), and daughter-in-law Angie, along with his ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Fern and Jerry, wife Roberta "Bobbi", son Alan, and grandson Jacob. Jack was a Korean War veteran prior to starting his career as a teacher and business owner, who had a love for music, culture, and arts. He was an avid baseball fan, especially of his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates. As Mr. Homewood, he was a devoted Sherlock Holmes fan and dedicated member of the Shalom group, as well as many other organizations including Jewish War Veterans and B'nai Brith. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12 at Shir Tikvah Temple in Homewood. Interment at Beverly Cemetery 12000 Kedzie Ave, Blue Island, IL 60406.
