James David Lyons

James David Lyons, age 82, of Kenilworth passed away on Thursday, June 01, 2017. James “Jim” Lyons was the beloved husband of Mary Lou Fisher; father of David Michael (Deborah Lee), James Daniel (Jill Emiko), Dennis Fisher (Sarah Jane), Deborah Ann; Grandfather of Elizabeth Lee and William Bradford; Kayoko Danielle and Bradley Kiyoshi; Elizabeth Ashley, Gabrielle Elder, Alexandra Anna; Emily Michelle Zaber and Jacob David Zaber. Preceded by his father and mother, Fred and Agnes Lyons, and sister Barbara Richardson. Brother in-law to Arvilla Petersen, Lilah Stangeland. Born January 6, 1935, Chicago, IL. Moved to Wilmette at age 4. Attended local schools including New Trier East High School, 1952. Attended University of Illinois; graduated by Rutgers University; Bachelor of Marketing. Joined A.C. Nielsen Company, Chicago, IL, 1958 as a Data Processing Trainee; transferred to New York City, 1962-1973 and became Product Manager, Nielsen Television Index; then Vice President-Nielsen Television Index Account Executive and Manager; followed by Executive Vice-President, Marketing Information Group. Appointed by Nielsen, President and Chief Executive Officer, Media Research Group, Northbrook, IL, January 1, 1975. Served in the United States Army, 1955-1958. Other positions included: Board of Deacons, Christ Church, Summit, NJ; Board of Trustees, Kenilworth Union Church, Kenilworth, IL; Board of Trustees, Station WTTW Channel 11, Chicago, IL; Board of Trustees Lambs Farm, Libertyville, IL; Board of Directors of the Consumer Marketing Information Group, A.C. Nielsen Company; Board of Directors, North Shore Community Bank and Trust [Wilmette Bank and Trust]. May he rest in peace. Memorial Service will be held at the Kenilworth Union Church on Monday, June 12, at 3:00PM, 211 Kenilworth Avenue, Kenilworth, IL 60043.
