James David Meyers passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 25, 1936, Jim lived a full and joyful life defined by wit, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
For 65 years, Jim shared an extraordinary partnership with his beloved wife, Claire Kobak Meyers—the love of his life, best friend, and constant companion. Together, they built a family grounded in laughter, love, and loyalty. Jim was the proud father of Tom (Suzanne), Anne (Steve), and Rick (Krista), and the treasured grandfather of Matt (Erin), Luke (Rachel), Dena, Noah, Mason, Marley, Reese, and Robert. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Emily, whom he held forever in his heart.
A 1954 graduate of New Trier High School and a 1958 graduate of the University of Michigan, Jim carried a lifelong pride for his schools—and a lifelong hope for his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs. His gentle humor, quick wit, competitive spirit in parlor games, and endless supply of puns brought joy to everyone lucky enough to know him.
Jim’s legacy lives on through his family, his friendships, and the laughter he inspired. He will be remembered always with love and a smile.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
