On Monday, August 5, 2024, Jan Moyse Nedoss, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away after a few years of battle with medical complications. Her kind heart, vivacious smile, laugh and sense of humor will be dearly missed by so many, no more than by her beloved husband Daniel, and her adoring children Nicole, Ryan and Justin.
Jan Was born November 30, 1959 to John Stirling Moyse and Jean Margeret Anderson in Louisville, Kentucky. She lived on Pawnee Trail, attended local elementary schools and Ballard High School. Her passion as a child was swimming. Jan and her brother Doug were members of the Plantation Country Swim Club. As a teenager, in 1977 Jan qualified for the USA/AAU Junior National Championships. At Ballard High School she was an excellent student in the Advanced Program. Jan spent her first year of college at the University of Florida-Gainesville. She swam for the Gator swim team her freshman year as a distance and butterfly swimmer. She was like a dolphin. She left Florida heading to the midwest where she would reside the rest of her life. Jan first lived in Milwaukee,Wisconsin, working and putting herself through school at UW-Milwaukee. She refined her career objectives and moved to Madison, Wisconsin attending the University of Wisconsin's prestigious advertising program. Upon graduation in 1987, she moved to Chicago to follow her dream in the advertising business. She quickly found herself, over the first 6 months, working for world class advertising agencies such as Leo Burnett, and eventually a permanent position as an account executive at J Walter Thompson. She worked on many accounts including Kraft Foods, McDonald's and Northern Telecom. Her favorite account she ever worked on was the Oscar Meyer Campaign.
While working on Michigan Ave as an Ad exec in May 1991, one weekend she met the love of her life Daniel, ironically at his sister Ruth's post rehearsal wedding dinner. Jan's dear friend Bobbi Wagemaker was in town for the wedding and introduced the two. Jan and Daniel were engaged one year later and married in July 1993. Jan became pregnant in October of the same year. After the delivery of her first child Nicole, Jan and Daniel moved north to Highland Park where they continued to reside until her passing. As the unselfish person she was, Jan decided on a new line of work and dedicated her life and energy to her beloved children. Ryan and Justin were born over the next few years. She would raise the children with dedication, love, and tender care.
The creative artist as she was, she would create spectacular birthday parties for each child. Holidays were a trip into the wonder of the holiday the family would be celebrating. Entertaining family and friends was certainly her strength. In 1992 Jan and Daniel hosted their first Kentucky Derby party at their one bedroom apartment in downtown Chicago. Jan's love of her birth home Louisville and traditions became a staple for the couple over the next 32 years. It was her way of sharing time and bringing all aspects of her life and family's lives together one day a year, on the first Saturday in May. The entire house decorated into a Derby theme will always be special in the hearts of those who have attended the festivities.
Jan taught Sunday School at the Church when the children were young. She was always a member of the School PTO Artistry committees as the kids went through K-8. She loved all genres of music. She was always on top of the new fashion/music of the day. She ranged from Beethoven to Pink. Louis Vuitton to Levi jeans. Recently, she became very proficient in Cricket, a crafting machine that makes cards of all kinds and other art. One of her fondest interests was collecting Barbies. She was born the same year as Barbie and shared this love with her daughter Nicole and nieces. Jan loved to travel. In 2018 she was able to experience the trip of her life to Paris, France. It was her and Daniel's 25th wedding anniversary. She did study French and had a fond liking of Parisian fashion, food and culture.
Jan will live on in the hearts of her husband Daniel, daughter Nicole, sons Ryan and Justin, her cats Snickers and KitKat, and dog Chloe.
