It is with hearts full of sorrow that we celebrate the life of Janis Berlin, who passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Beloved daughter of the late Herman and the late Esther Becker; loving sister of the late Stanley (Nancy) Becker, the late Lawrence (Joy) Becker; aunt of Rachel Budwick, Hannah, Mollie and Graceanne Becker. Fictive kin to Sandra, Giuseppe, Sofia and Antonino Gentile. Cherished friend of many.
Janis had a radiant spirit, her kindness, laughter and light made the world a more beautiful place for those privileged to know her.
Janis was a woman of grace, compassion, and boundless warmth. Her smile could illuminate the darkest room, and her laughter had the power to lift even the heaviest of hearts.
An adventurer by nature, she sought joy in the wonders of the world. Whether traveling to far-off places or exploring the richness of life close to home, she lived with curiosity and an open heart. She was never more at home than when she was in the kitchen, lovingly preparing a meal or baking something special to share. She brought people together with effortless charm and her gatherings were filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
A devoted daughter, Janis selflessly dedicated her life to caring for her parents; embodying devotion and selflessness with every act and showing unwavering love and compassion that defined her character.
Her kindness extended to all—whether offering comforting words, a kind deed, or simply her time.
Janis will be remembered not only for her radiant spirit and elegance of heart, but for the way she made others feel valued and deeply loved. The mark she left on our lives is profound, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.
She was, and will always remain, irreplaceable.
A celebration of her extraordinary life will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 12PM (Noon), at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W Montrose Ave, Norridge, IL 60706.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor her memory by supporting Gilda’s Club of Chicago, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, or any charity of your choosing, as it will be a reflection of the compassion, she so effortlessly shared.
