Malcolm Dalkoff of Wilmette, Illinois, passed away on January 8, 2026 at the age of 76. Loving husband of Selma, loving father of Jeremy and Amy, and devoted grandfather of Aiden. Writer, book lover, adoptive father to 17 cats, he loved writing, playing with words and coming up with wise cracks and silly songs to amuse his kids and his grandson. These skills aided his career as an advertising copywriter/vice president at Leo Burnett. His often hilarious, heart-felt advertising connected kids and adults with favorite brands and characters. Later, he wrote short stories as well as humorous columns for his hometown newspaper. One was epitomized in Bob Greene’s syndicated column, “A few words can change a life,” recalling how his teacher’s encouragement helped him aspire to become a writer and aided others.
