

Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on April 4, 1917 to Edmund and Adelina Bittler. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from National College of Education.
Throughout her life, she has volunteered her time to many community organizations including Peacock Camp for Crippled Children, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Infant Welfare Society of Evanston, Lawrence Hall, Trustee of National College of Education, Christ Church, Winnetka, IL and Church of the Holy Comforter, Kenilworth, IL.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Allyn who was a Chicago investment banker and previous owner of the Chicago White Sox, daughter, Barbara Campbell and sisters, Helen Rabuck (Toledo, Ohio) and Ruth Bittler (Ft. Wayne, Indiana). She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Tom) Stuhley, Nokomis, FL and Williams Bay, WI; Sharon (Ira) Taylor , Hinsdale, IL and son, John (Polly) Allyn Jr., Boxford, MA; niece, Lynne King, Toledo, Ohio; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 222 Kenilworth Ave., Kenilworth, IL on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2 PM with a 1 PM reception at the same location prior to the service. There will be a private family internment at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
