Myra Berliant, age 63, passed away at home with her loved ones by her side, on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. Myra lived a selfless life, even during her final years facing a debilitating illness. Her courage and optimism were inspirational to her family, friends, and students. She devoted her life to helping others, and her work as a teacher exemplified this passion. Myra lovingly worked with primary students, and later in life, focused her attention on guiding and supporting those with disabilities. Regardless with whom she worked, Myra brought out the positive side of those around her; she knew how to love and how to praise. A loving, devoted wife of Norman; mother of Eric and Gary; daughter of Harry and Ann Shaffer; aunt; cousin; and friend of many, Myra’s thoughts and actions were always in the best interest of others. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched; in Myra’s case, that number is considerable.
