Thank you Doctor Eisenstein. You are still missed.

Sadly, today I just learned about the loss of Dr. Eisenstein as announced in the Illinois Psychiatric Society Newsletter.  This is a much delayed but sincere and heartfelt expression of sympathy to his family.  Dr. Eisenstein was one of my first supervisors during my psychiatry residency at Evanston Hospital.  He stood out for me as a very bright, kind man who really cared about others.  He was able to take pause from all the hype and really consider what was important in life.  Over the years he surprised and touched me with his periodic phone calls to connect, sharing even at times his feelings about his illness.  I was always struck by how bravely he faced his illness, still able to care for others.  I will always fondly remember our last conversation, sharing family history and taking delight in those who came before. He was a true mensch, a warm human being who represented all the best in human nature. He was and still is in mind and heart my guide in how to be a compassionate psychiatrist.  I will miss his phone calls dearly.  May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew him.  I will never forget him.  With deepest sympathy.

Dr. Eisenstein was my rock for 30 years.  He will
be greatly missed.  He got me through many difficult
times.  I'm sure his family is still grieving.  Why did 
God send illness to such a kind man?  Goodbye, Dr.

I was very sorry to hear of Dick's passing.  I was a classmate at Kirkwood High School.  We often double dated.  An unlikely pair.  He was clearly the smartest kid in the class.  I barely got through.  Even after he went to the the U. of Michigan, I stopped by his house for vists with his Mother and Father.  Her cookies were wonderful.  On Sunday afternoons, the house was full of classical music played on the record player.

Dick was a delightful, kind, respectful human being.   Very modest.  A friend who will be missed.    Walt McFarland

Dear Sarah,

I was so very sorry to hear about Dick's passing.  He was a dear high school friend and classmate whom I have always held in highest regard and will always remember fondly. Special remembrances I have of Dick are: being a fellow student council officer with him and of the time he escorted me in the May Fete our senior year. 
 
Besides being a brilliant student in high school Dick had a kindness about him that made him a friend to everyone.  He also always showed great integrity and spoke up for what was right...whether or not it was the popular thing to do. 

I know that Dick found real happiness with you and his children, Sarah.
Please know that you have my deep and sincere sympathy on his passing.

My condolences to Dr.Eisensteins family...he was my therapist and beloved friend for over 20 years..my heart is saddened...He was an important part of my life and I will always be grateful to him forever
