Ruth S. Stern, 95, beloved wife of the late Frank for 70 years; loving mother of Debbie Stern (Howard Freidin), Naomi Davenport, and Charlotte Stern (Dr. Steven Witzel); devoted Oma of Theresa Davenport, Rustin (April) Davenport, Thomas J Davenport, David Freidin, Dr. Brian Freidin (Dr. Hannah Alpert), Michael Freidin, Zachary Witzel, Benjamin Witzel, and several great-grandchildren; foster sister of Ruth Hecht (the late Arnold); aunt to cherished niece and nephews. Born in Berlin, Germany. Grew up in Belgium and emigrated (eventually) to the United States in 1941. A long-time employee of the JCC and a volunteer at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, Hadassah Chicago-North Shore, or The Smith Fund.
