ShellEy, Met you when I first moved to the Gold Coast 27 years ago. So fun and friendly. Our mutual love of cats made you my Cat Daddy. You were a wonderful father to Shaun, who you bragged about how proud you were of him all the time. And a great dad to your Ginger boys. I will miss seeing you holding court at Topo, Gibson’s, Kamehachi, and many other Chicago landmarks that loved you too. I was at Topo a month ago and was so happy to see you in your spot. 
The lights are now a little dimmer in Chicago. Shelley was definitely an electric personality that attracted so many people.

My condolences to Shelley's son, Shaun, and family.  Lots of memories and fun times to remember going back to the 80's.  Shelley will be missed.

May your family's sorrow be brief and may your memories be everlasting.... Shelley may you soar with the biggest wings!!!!!!

As I won't be able to attend the services today in person due to illness, I want to pass on my deepest condolences to Shaun and the family. Having known Shelley for probably close to 40 years, his passing hits close to home. Probably the best recollection was his musing about his arrest when younger in Chicago Heights for selling weed out of his head shop. He needed an attorney to get him out of trouble, he chose probably the most respected and connected attorney in the Heights, Gabe Aprati. Unbeknownst as a fast forward to 40 years later, that attorney was my late wife Gabrielle's father. Talk about a small world.  Shelley will be great missed, especially by his many friends that inhabited the same venues and restaurants.  RIP my friend!!

My sincere condolences to Shaun and to Shelley’s family.   Your dad was loved by so many people.  Although it has been years since I saw Shelley, he has always held a special place in my heart.  So warm, funny, intelligent…he made everyone feel like his best friend.  Thank you for your kindness and open heart Shelley…my life was enriched by your friendship.

Dearest Shelley, I will never forget you. My most cherished memories of you will forever be tucked away in my heart.

He had a way, however, of making everyone feel like family. We all felt super special to him because he truly valued everyone. Sending  my condolences to Shaun and his family. Shelley and I would occasionally butt heads but always bonded over everyone misspelling our names all the time.  I truly thought he would live till he was 100.  Rest in peace, Shelley and thanks for all the great memories.

One of my best Shelley (Shelley with an e) stories. We were in his fancy convertible driving to Indiana for the Bulls vs Pacers playoff game circa 1998. Shelley is speeding and we get pulled by an Indiana State Trooper.😳 Two bald men, one Jewish, the other Black, speeding in a fancy car in Indiana. The State Trooper asked why are we speeding! Shelley responded, "We are late for the Bulls game"😳😂 and then points to me, "Don't you know who he is"😳😂 Obviously, the Indiana State Trooper did not know who I was! Luckily, we didn't go to jail, instead Shelley was given a warning! One of many Shelley moments I will always remember. I will miss you my friend. Rest easy my friend.

My deepest sympathies for your great loss. Shelley is remembered with fondness by many and will remain with us. May your memories bring you comfort during this most difficult of times. Sincerely
