Shirley Rose Tross, 98, of Wilmette passed away on Friday, Feb. 13 surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago in 1927. She married Irving Tross in 1946, and they were together for 67 years until his passing in 2013. She is survived by her children Ellene (Michael) Shapiro, Jeffrey (Linda) Tross, and Nathan (Beth) Tross; grandchildren Joshua Shapiro, Mia Marietta, Noah Shapiro, Adam Tross, and Brian Tross; and 6 great-grandchildren.
All who knew her found that she put the interests of others whether family, friends, or casual acquaintances before her own. Her character contributed to a wonderful and fulfilling career of close to 30 years in the infant and toddlers clothing department at Marshall Fields (Old Orchard) where her helpful and understanding service made friends of customers that extended through generations of families. She will be dearly missed and remembered, by all who knew her.
Interment took place on Feb. 16 at Westlawn Cemetery.
