William Nelson Guthrie of Snowmass Village, CO, loving husband and father, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 12th following a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Lou, sons Bill and Bruce, six grandchildren and his sister Ruth Lochner. He worked hard for his family all his life. He served in the Navy as a drydock engineer during the Korean conflict, being stationed in Sasebo, Japan and Brooklyn, NY. He worked as a consultant for George Fry and Assoc. and later served as CEO of Conn Musical Instruments and Material Sciences Corp. Later he was very proud of the family real estate partnership that he ran with Bill and Lou. He was active in the Snowmass Chapel and Kenilworth Union Church, and supported the Boys and Girls Club that helped him in his youth. He loved golf, skiing with the family, and walking in the mountains with Lou. A memorial service will be held at Kenilworth Union Church on Sat., Sept. 24th at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made in his name to the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago.
