Lucy - Moraga

Lucy Moraga, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away on January 21, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. She was 90. Lucy was born September 11, 1920 in Harbor City, CA. She is survived by her nine children, Henry, John, Naomi, Virginia, Emily, Pete, Arthur, Dina and Debbie; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Esperanza Perez; brothers, Jimmy Hernandez and Robert Hernandez. Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, John G. Moraga and her siblings, Pedro and Enrique Hernandez. Lucy was the matriarch of her family who was known for her love for her Lord, strength of character and love for her immediate and extended family members and friends. To many more she was their "Grandma Lucy". Lucy attended Harbor City Elementary School and Narbonne High School, also in Harbor City. During her marriage, she lived mostly in the South Bay and for a short while in Camarillo, CA at the end of World War II. Lucy was a homemaker during the first half of her marriage then worked at Mattel Toys and other companies until she retired in 1985. During her later years, she enjoyed working in her garden, attending church services at Bethel Baptist Church in Torrance and loved being surrounded by her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Viewing and visitation will be on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Funeraria del Angel McNerney's Mortuary, 1640 N. Avalon Blvd., Wilmington, CA , from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 310-834-8531.
