Robert was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. He passed away surrounded by his loving family in Long Beach, California. He met the love of his life at first sight, Aurelia, by a soda fountain at a Woolworth store where she worked in Laredo, Texas. From that point on, he would hitch-hike 150 miles from Corpus Christi to Laredo, Texas to see his future wife. On July 10, 1955, they were joined in marriage at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. In 1966, Robert and Aurelia decided to move their family to Southern California where they remained for the past 59 years.
Robert served as a faithful servant of Jehovah and dedicated his life in baptism in 1949 at the age of 14. Robert had many spiritual privileges serving as an Elder in West Wilmington Spanish congregation for many years. Through the years, he served in many different departments at assemblies and conventions. He passed away serving Jehovah faithfully.
He was a loving father, hard worker, an excellent provider and a man of his word. He had a big, memorable smile and a strong laugh that could be recognized across a crowd. At age 8, he hustled under the piers to collect fish that had been dropped from above so he could sell them to help his parents. He worked hard the rest of his life until he retired from the Longshoremen ILWU Local 13. He loved sports, especially football. He was nominated to the class of 1955 All American High School Football Team. With his break-away speed and power, he was a threat to score anytime he touched the ball. It was no surprise that he was inducted into the Miller High School Buccaneers Hall of Fame in 2011. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan throughout his life.
