Athanasios Thanasi Papoulias

Thanasi was born November 6, 2001 and right away we knew he was special and would change our lives forever. Thanasi made an impact on everyone that he met from sharing interesting facts about history and music to making his teachers superheroes in his drawings. Memories they still cherish. But his true passion was the digital world he created with his characters in Dudley Duck, Duck Adventures. Thanasi loved music and always had on a band tee shirt from Green Day to Metallica. He loved art of all kinds and especially loved going to the library. He enjoyed sports like bowling with his father and running track and field in high school. But his favorite time he spent eating at restaurants with his father.

Thanasi is survived by his father Michael Papoulias (Melissa Humphrey) of Wilmington, North Carolina. Mother Patricia Collins of Summerfield, Florida. Maternal grandparents Kevin and Rosemarie Collins. His aunt Lisa Zoumboulis (Elysseos) and cousins Petros and Yiannis Zoumboulis. His aunt Althea Maria Papoulias (Alexander) and cousin Aradne Steinberger of Veniea, Austria. Close family friends Angie and Chris Tsingelis, Elpitha, Petros, Andy and Nick. The Humphrey family, Brooke, Keri (Joe) and Indiana.

Thanasi was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church Saint Nicholas and services will be held at 12pm, Saturday, April 18, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street Wilmington, NC 28401. The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at 11am.
