Calvin Leroy Ripley of Hampstead, NC passed away on March 18, 2021 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington, NC.
He was born in McAlester, OK on August 25, 1943, son of the late James Coy Ripley and M. Pearl Oberquell. He honorably served 20 years in the United States Navy and retired as an Aviation Ordnanceman with the rank of E6. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Calvin loved his family, friends, and pets. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. His pastimes were fishing, NASCAR, and spending time with family.
Surviving is his sister, Brenda Poppe (Dennis), step-brother, Donald Henneberg (Dusty), stepsons, John Lehman, David Lehman (Jaye), Mike Lehman (Frankie), and Raymond Lehman (Helen), stepdaughters, Sue Fontaine, and Brenda Sexton (Greg), numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ripley, father, James Coy Ripley, mother, M. Pearl Oberquell, sisters, Dorothy Mae Duncan, Marylou Constadopolis, and Rosemarie Li, brother, James Robert Ripley and step-brother, Lemar Henneberg.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 am at Anchor Baptist Church on Friday, March 26th. A service will begin at 11:30 am at the church immediately following the visitation. Interment will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, NC.
