Carol Hooper Gaither, 56, of Wilmington, NC, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at her residence. She was born on August 10, 1954, in Elizabeth City, NC, the daughter of the late Elroy Jones Hooper, Jr. and Wanda Miller Hooper. Also remembered is a brother, Elroy Jones Hooper, III, who preceded her in death. Carol is survived by her husband, Chris Gaither; a daughter, Kate Gaither; and two brothers, Thomas Hooper of Seattle, WA and Timothy Hooper of Kitty Hawk, NC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 4, 2011 at St. James Episcopal Church by The Rev. Ronald G. Abrams. The family will receive friends in the Great Hall immediately following the service. Memorials may be made in Carol's memory to St. James Episcopal Church, 25 S. 3rd St., Wilmington, NC, 28401.
