On September 6, 2010, Carolyn Bordeaux left this life with the same quiet grace, beauty and dignity with which she lived it. Carolyn is survived by her two beloved sons, Sam and Ben, her boys' father, Mark Purcell, her loving sisters, Mary Elizabeth Bordeaux and Laura Bordeaux Hughes, her parents William James and Beverly Reid Bordeaux, a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and other family, church family and friends who will miss her very much. Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother Billy, whose boyish smile was likely her first sight upon entering Heaven. Carolyn was known for her strong sense of compassion, care and empathy for others, her quick smile and infectious laugh, her delicious cooking, her skills as an accomplished concert pianist and also for her strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, who provided spiritual and emotional guidance and love to Carolyn and her sons along her life's journey, or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice who provided comfort and safety to she and her family in her final days.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Coble Ward-Smith Oleander Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, September 10, 2010, at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church with interment to follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
