

Cornelius John Bandstra “Neal” died April 8, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born on January 26, 1922, Neal grew up in Prospect Park, New Jersey. He served in US Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He and his family lived in North Haledon, New Jersey where he owned and operated a bakery before retiring with his wife to Ft. Myers Florida where he lived for 18 years.
He has been a resident of Wilmington for the past four years and a member of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church. His joy in life was his love for the Lord and spending time with his wife of 65 years.
Neal is survived by his wife, Agnes Fylstra Bandstra, daughter, Pamela Bandstra Hagley and her husband Rodney Dale Hagley, son Glenn Cornelius Bandstra and his wife Mieke Roza Bandstra, grandchildren Jodfrey Hancock Bandstra, Kimberly Bandstra Pitts, and Kathryn Belinda Hagley, and great grandchildren, Nicholas Ryan Hagley and Katelyn Jade Pitts as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his four brothers and two sisters, as well as his son, David Merle Bandstra. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Keith Louthan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the music ministry of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church, 601 Causeway Drive, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480
