

Donald Winslow Caison “Butch” a resident of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Wilmington, NC on May 1, 1942, to his parents Lawrence and Lela Mae Caison and raised in Lumberton, NC with his eight siblings.
Along with his parents Butch is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn Caison. He is also preceded by his brothers Thurston, Michael, Robert, and Doug Caison, his sister Kay Brixey, and his son-in-law Woody Leonard.
Butch was not only a husband but also a father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherishing each role in his family. He took great pleasure in spoiling his grandkids with candy. For 42 years, Butch shared a deep and loving bond with his beloved wife Carolyn Caison, creating countless cherished memories together. Beyond his family, he had a deep passion for reading. An avid reader, he made it a daily habit to do so, regardless of whether he had already read it. In addition to his love for reading, he also held a strong affection for the Pittsburgh Steelers and for fishing. This passion for football and fishing was something he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
As a Veteran of the United States Air Force, Butch served with honor and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on his country. Proudly holding the rank of Sgt. in the Air Force Police, he carried out his duties with a strong sense of commitment and patriotism.
He is survived by his three children: Dan Caison (Shirley), Trudy Leonard, and Toni Fink (Scot). Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Jack Caison, and his sisters, Carol Parrett and Bonnie McDaniel. Furthermore, he is also survived by his seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington. NC 28412.
A Graveside Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10 AM at Hosea Simmons Cemetery in Whiteville, NC. officiated by Pastor Travis Smith.
