

Donald Lee Cox, Sr., 74, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on May 8, 1938. Mr. Cox served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and the National Guard. His mother, Dorothy Mae Nipper and wife, Kathyrn Louise Greaver Cox, preceded him in death. He will be remembered by his family and friends as being a kind and generous man, always trying to help those needing assistance. Surviving are his children, Kathy Danice Bollhorst, Donald Lee Cox, II, Judy Dianne Nayler, Damon Eugene Cox, and Amanda Jean Cox; grandchildren, Dwanedia Louise "Peanut" Jacobs, Crystal Danice Walker, Kindall Dawn Walker, Michael Scott Keffer, Tia Stout, Gracie Cox, and Alexis Robine; great-grandchildren, Morgan Danice Boyer and Christian Tye Boyer; a sister, Darlene Murphy; and his best friend of 64 years, Clarence Calvin O'Neil. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, at Port City Community Church, 250 Vision Drive, Wilmington, with military honors provided by the United States Marines. Following the service, the family will receive visitors at the home of Mr. Cox's eldest daughter, Danice Bollhorst, 6305 Brantley Ct., Wilmington, in Kirkwood at Aarondale.
