Doris Fay Dawson

Doris Fay Dawson, of Burgaw, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2013. She was born in Bladen County on December 29, 1947 to Sam Anders and JoAnnie Hammonds Anders, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her faithful husband, Billy Dawson, of the home; loving daughter Heather Dawson Padgett (Wes) of Hampstead; the loves of her life, granddaughters Lillian and Audrey Padgett; sister, AnnieRuth Davis of Clinton; brothers, David Anders (Darlene) of Charlotte, Horace Anders of Elizabethtown, Dewey (Dot) Anders of Laurinburg, Ray (Kay) Anders of Charlotte, and Samuel Anders of Burgaw; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Doris was a devout wife, mother, grandmother and sister who always put the needs of others first. She fought tirelessly with courage and grace against her illnesses for well over a decade. Her loss is immeasurable to all those who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC from 6:00-8:00pm. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Greenlawn Memorial Park at 11:00am with Rev. Rudy Shepard officiating.
