

E.A. was born to William Hampton Britt and Mattie Emma Lawson Britt in Evergreen, NC December 23, 1929. He was preceded in death by both parents, six sisters and one brother.
E.A. was married to Veda Merle Williams and they became parents to Susan, Lloyd, Ellen and Randy.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice Williams Britt, his children, Susan Powell (L.G.), Lloyd R. Britt (Lisa), Ellen Britt Watts (Marty) and Randy Britt, Nine Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren and two Great, Great-Grandchildren, also two special people, Brent Irwin and Gage Riggle, special nieces and nephews and so many others who loved him.
An employee of Federal Paper Board (Riegelwood Paper Mill) for many years, he also served in various capacities with the Union, he finished his career with Federal Paper and retired to enjoy time around his home, working in the yard with his wife and spending time with his family and friends.
E.A. will be remembered by his family and friends for his big smile and his love of conversation, when he was younger he loved to be at the hunting club on the first day of deer season and then as many times as he could get out in the woods to hunt with his sons, grandsons and friends…he was also an avid fisherman and spent many hours fishing with his son, Lloyd.
A member of Elah Baptist Church for over fifty years, E.A. sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and spent many happy hours with his friends ministering to many in the community.
Our Daddy loved the Lord Jesus Christ and eagerly shared him with anyone who would listen, nothing made him happier. He loved listening to hymns and watching Bill and Gloria Gaither on TV each Saturday evening.
A special thanks to our sister, Susan who worked tirelessly to take care of Daddy in his last years at home, making sure he and Bernice’s every need was met…there aren’t enough words to express our gratitude to her.
Thank you to those at Gentiva Hospice, especially Brandy, DJ and Annie, our deepest heartfelt thanks to you all for the extra special love and care that was given to Daddy.
A special heaven sent angel, Andy who our Daddy so much comfort and care in his last days at home...we appreciate you more than you will ever know.
Lastly but certainly not least the members of Elah Baptist Church, Pastor Kenneth Long, Murray Mintz, Charlie Fish and all of the Deacons who ministered to Daddy in so many ways and helped the family to take care of him. Brother-in-Law, Pastor George Potter who was also one of Daddy's best friends.
Our family will deeply miss E.A., Our Daddy and papa who fought the good fight and kept the faith for so many years...we know you are at peace now in Heaven with your Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2023 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Elah Baptist Church, 1527 Old Fayetteville Road NE, Leland, NC 28451.
Funeral Service will start at 11:00 am on Thursday July 13, 2023 at Elah Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth W. Long, Sr. officiating. Interment to follow at King Memorial Gardens.
