

Eleanor Hunter Couch, 91, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born in Wallace, NC, October 9, 1919, daughter of the late Weaver Hunter and Lessie Teachey Hunter. Her husband, John Couch passed away in 1981. Mrs. Couch was a former employee of the Atlantic Coastline Railroad. She was a strong and intelligent woman for her era. Mrs. Couch was a loving mother, and avid reader, and a member of the Episcopal faith. Surviving are her son, Wayne Couch and wife, Ascension of AL; two grandchildren, Stuart and Daniel Couch of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Marion Hunter Betty of Virginia and Hilburn Hunter of Wallace; also three nephews and one niece. A sister, Edith Serra preceded her in death. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel in Wilmington. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Oleander Memorial Gardens where she will be interred next to her husband, John. Her favorite song: ""Because"", lyrics by E.
