Elizabeth B Hunt

Clara Elizabeth Britt Hunt (Libby) was born January 30, 1932 to James Franklin and Ada Evelyn Britt in LaGrange, North Carolina. Libby along with her younger brother William Hardy Britt – or “Lil Brother” spent their childhood growing up in LaGrange and later, spent time with family and friends in Wrightsville Beach.

Elizabeth graduated from Atlantic Christian College – now Barton College and started her adult life in St. Petersburg, Florida with her brother in tow. There, she raised her four children. She was a founding member of Palm Lake Christian Church.

After the children had left the nest, Elizabeth devoted her life in the studies of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She became an ordained minister and had a fulfilling career as the Associate Pastor at Palm Lake Christian Church, and as a hospital chaplain at St. Anthony’s Hospital and Bayfront Hospital.

Elizabeth retired to LaGrange and Wilmington, North Carolina where she continued to provide spiritual guidance to her church families.

Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn Britt; her brother Will Hardy Britt; her husband Bud Hunt. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Lynn, Patricia Ann (Richard), Elizabeth Evelyn, and her son James Franklin (Kathleen Marie), and son-in-law Joseph. Grandchildren Teresa (David), Elyse, Robert, Joyce, Joey, and Morgan Leigh and great grandson Thomas. Sister-in-law Sandra Britt, nieces Marti, Marsha, Susan, Lisa (Brian), and nephew James (Yvonne) and Jackie.

Elizabeth, Mom, Nana, Libba, Libby as she was affectionately known had a love of life, and family. She had a warm welcoming smile and her kindness and spiritual devotion touched many lives. She was viewed as an angel on Earth is now an angel in Heaven and in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Wilmington, LaGrange Christian Church, or Lower Cape Fear Life Care.

Services for Elizabeth will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the First Christian Church, Wilmington, 2035 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, 28403. Gravesite internment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 201 N. Forbes Street, LaGrange, NC 28551
