I am so sorry to here about Gene's passing. He was a very good freind I alway's enjoyed our little talks. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, I shall miss him dearly.

So sorry to learn of Gene's passing so unexpectedly.  When he first opened All About Food, I had the barbershop across Oleander.  Since I, too, am a NYC transplant I loved the great food and also remember his mother with love.  Gene and Claudiaare all about great food and great family love.  My husband still blames 25 lbs. of my weight gain on their wonderful food!!! Prayers and condolences to all.

I have so much respect for Gene. This news makes me so sad.  When I had a near fatal accident 10 years ago, Gene was the first one to call my staff (pine valley market) and wife and offer a helping hand.  You will surly be missed by so many in this community.  May your legacy live on in those you touched and in the successfully business that brings joy to so many.  Truly sad to get this news.

I am so sad to learn that Gene has passed away.  He was one of the most generous and kind-hearted people that I know.  His life was like a tree in that he had strong branches that held many birds.

Gene was a neighbor, friend and a person with a heart the size of the Grand Canyon.  Wilmington has lost a huge asset to the community.

I was so very sorry to hear this news. I knew Gene through PPD catering. He always treated the front desk ladies to his food and his humor. He was a stand-up top-shelf guy. My condolences to Claudia and the family. RIP in peace my friend - you will be missed.

Gene Costa was a tremendous friend of local law enforcement. His support for the Wilmington Police Department will never be forgotten. His passion and patriotism drove him to be so generous to us. When you walked through the doors of Bon Appetite you were in a safe haven. On behalf of the grateful members of the Wilmington Police Department we offer Gene's grieving family, friends and staff our deepest condolences.

Gene was always so friendly and very helpful to me when I needed some catering for the services for my daughter in law and for my daughter.

Gene has been a friend of mine for over 16 years. He was a true family man and a fantastic restaurateur. He would give you the shirt off of his back and was incredibly loyal. Cindy and me and my children will miss him dearly and we pray for him and his family. God bless you Gene!

It shocked and saddened me to see the sign in front of Bon Appetite restaurant on Sunday. I knew Gene from my years at PPD when the restaurant would cater for business lunches. I also have fond memories of seeing him when I would meet friends for breakfast or lunch at the restaurant. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and staff. He will be greatly missed.

I had the opportunity to know Gene for about 13 years and I can tell u that I have never met a greater man . He was the biggest Yankee's fan I've ever met . He had the best shrimp and grits in town . We use to joke that his place was like Cheers without the alcohol! I enjoyed every moment listening to stories about New York . He was a very hard working man . He was a great father, grand-father and husband ! Meet me at the crossroads so u won't be lonely ! Rest easy my dear friend !

What a wonderful friend to all who collected around him. He shall be missed!

So sorry to hear this. Gene was a wonderful person and will be missed. Will never forget the chocolate covered strawberries that he "threw in" extra at my daughters wedding back in November. Always making sure people were happy, ran a great business.
