Florence Jenkins Curtis

Florence Jenkins Curtis, 91, of Wilmington died, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter. She was born on July 28, 1920 in Herndon, VA to the late Charles and Mildred Jenkins. In addition to her parents Florence is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Harold O. Curtis; great granddaughter Makayla Read; four brothers and two sisters. Formerly of Arlington, VA where she was a member of the Arlington Church of Christ. Florence retired from the U.S. Government NAVAIR. She loved to crochet and share her talent with family and friends. She enjoyed telling a good joke as well as her childhood stories. Florence dearly loved her family. She was a member of Pine Valley Church of Christ. Florence is survived by daughter Sharon Cope; son Tim Curtis and wife Ann; grandchildren Matt Curtis, Kelly Read and husband Mitch; great grandchildren Kylie Read and Fisher Read. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Pine Valley Church of Christ with Pastor Jeff Fox officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. Donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401
