Frances Gurgul

Born in South Amboy, New Jersey, and raised in Sayreville, NJ, Frances lived a faithful Catholic life centered around family, love, and quiet strength. Prior to moving to Burgaw, NC, she was a devoted member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Sayreville, NJ, where she was also a Past-President of the Columbiettes, Counsel 2061.

Once moving to North Carolina, she became a long time member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Castle Hyne NC, and served has lead of the Liturgical Committee and was known as cooker of the Sauerkraut for the St Stan's Polish Festival, where she was a huge part of the success of the food preparation for the Polish Festival.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald J Gurgul; her parents, Frank and Stella Durski; and her sister, Beatrice Kosmowski.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Alicia LeMaire (Marybeth); her cherished grandchildren, Brianna, Wanda, and Mason; and her treasured great-grandson, Zayne. Frances had a huge extended family including friends that she considered family.

Frances will be missed by all who were blessed to know her including the ones who cared for her in her final days (Ellen, Bre, Brianna, Christian, Niya, Chasity, and all the amazing staff at Lower Cape Fear Life Care, Wilmington, NC.

Frances will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and friends, her caring heart, and the lasting memories she created with those closest to her. Frances always loved to celebrate holidays at her home and enjoyed cooking, baking, and just spending time with loved ones.

Her family and friends will forever hold her memory close and continue to honor the life and love she gave so freely.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2pm, Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The family will receive visitors30 minutes prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
