

He was born in San Diego, CA on November 30, 1942, the son of George and Alvira Schieler. The family soon moved to the Chicagoland area where he spent his childhood and attended Prospect High School, graduating in 1961. He served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne from 1964 to 1966. Following an honorable discharge, he worked in the printing business for nearly five decades. In 2018 he moved to North Carolina where he enjoyed golfing and the company of many new friends.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Donna Schieler; brother Donald (Phyllis) Schieler; children Glenn (Cathy) Schieler, Paul Schieler, Richard (Heather Cunningham) Schieler, and Amanda (Patrick Lawlor) Schieler; step-daughter Alaina (Addam) Krucek; grandchildren Rebecca, Christopher, Elise, McCartney, Cassandra, Hana, Eden, James, Nora, Nathan, Hannah and Noah; and great-grandchildren Cameron and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife Patricia Schieler; and his sisters Ella Mae Rundgren and Joanne Pishotta.
A visitation will be held on March 8, 2026 from 1:00 - 3:00pm with memorial service to follow at 3:00pm, at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, NC. A brief graveside service will be held on March 21, 2026 at 1:00pm at Cave City Cemetery in Cave City, KY. All are welcome.
