Gerald Stone

Gerald Sherwin Stone, 71 of Southport passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born in Detroit, MI in 1939, his parents were the late Harry Stone and Ruth Woolf Stone. He was retired from ITT Corporation as Pension Administrator following 26 years of service.

Jerry is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Susan Luhn Stone; sons, Michael Stone and wife, Marcy, of Germantown, WI, Steven Stone and partner, Dennis Orr, of St. Louis, MO; Jonathan Stone of Bristow, VA; sister, Sister June Todd Thomas, of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Matthew, Kelsey and Joshua.

Jerry was a member and past Master of Mountain View Lodge #154 in Wayne, NJ and a member of Salaam Shrine Center’s Field Music Unit in Livingston, NJ. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Newark Court #37 and assistant Scout Master of Troop 21 and Advisor to Explorer Post 111 in New Jersey. After re-locating to North Carolina in 2003, Jerry became a member of Sudan Shrine Center in New Bern, NC and a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps at the Arab Shrine Club in Wilmington. He was past President of the Cape Fear Miata Club of Wilmington and a member of the Fire Police in the St. James Fire Department. Jerry enjoyed playing golf, bowling and traveling.

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM in Temple of Israel, corner of Market and 4th Streets in Wilmington with the burial at 3:00 PM in Cape Fear Memorial Park, Route 211, Southport-Supply Road in Southport. Following the graveside service, there will be a gathering of friends and family at Founders Club in St. James.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Fire Department, Temple of Israel or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
